First Year Mentorship Program

⚙ What is FMP?

The transition between high school and college can be a challenging process for many students. REHC’s First Year Mentorship Program provides a unique opportunity to help first-year students on their journey by pairing them with energetic, helpful, and accomplished upperclassmen to help the freshmen not only successfully transition, but also to propel them towards an amazing start at Rutgers. Throughout the Fall semester, mentors and mentees meet one-on-one to discuss personal topics, attend seminars, and enjoy each other’s company in social events. In the Spring semester, FMP helps organize more social events, as well as Majors Night, where first-year students will have an opportunity to learn about the various majors offered in the School of Engineering from a panel of upperclassmen before making their decision.

⚙ Recent Events

Majors Night (March 2022) - During Majors Night, first-year students have the opportunity to talk to a panel of upperclassmen regarding their potential choice of major, and learn about everything the School of Engineering offers.

Scavenger Hunt (April 2022) - Mentees and their mentors get to hang out with each other as they explore the Rutgers University campus.

⚙ Program Impact

“The First-Year Mentorship Program and all of the events they held made me feel at home my freshman year, truly integrated with the tight-knit Honors community. I made some really close friends who I first met at FMP events.”
